DESCRIPTION:Monday\, June 16\, 7 PM\, LGHS’s 25th Anniversary Celebration Program \nPreserving local history through the establishment of a Historical Society\, come hear the many retrospective stories of the Liberty Grove Historical Society founding members\, and enjoy a timeline photo presentation with your slice of celebratory cake in the Museum Barn.  \nThis first program of the 25th Anniversary Season will feature a panel of founding members who were there. These local history heroes will reflect on the successes and trials of forming and supporting their local historical society. It will be a perfect kick-off for the 25th Anniversary season! \nThe 25th Anniversary Season will also feature local family history and significant sites. A unique program will be presented on the third Monday in July and August at 7 p.m. in the Museum Barn. These offerings are open to the public\, and plenty of parking and seating are available. As always\, the final program of the season is a site tour. Please join us in celebrating over 25 years of preserving and sharing the special history of the Liberty Grove community.  \nAll LGHS programs follow a short membership meeting. Merchandise benefiting LGHS will be available. All programs are free and open to the public with plenty of on-site parking and seating. \nAll events are subject to change. DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThursday\, June 19: Annual “Lake to Table” Fish Boil Fundraiser\, 4 – 8 pm. \nPlease RSVP using the QR code or this link Annual LGHS “Lake to Table” Fish Boil Fundraiser to secure your spot for a 4\, 5\, 6\, or 7 pm seating\, along with your menu selection. Ordering online is safe\, and easy and will greatly help LGHS plan for this onsite event in the barn. Each time slot is limited to 40 persons and the RSVP preorder cutoff is the Tuesday before the event.  \nThis all-inclusive Whitefish fish boil dinner is still priced at $25 per adult. Additional choices include a Broasted Chicken dinner\, junior dinner (fish and chicken) for $15 and a boxed ham sandwich (with banana\, chocolate chip cookie\, and juice box) for $10. All dinners include baby red potatoes\, onions\, coleslaw\, rye bread\, water\, lemonade\, coffee and cherry dessert. DESCRIPTION:June 20\, Friday\, 7 PM\, Through Waves and Gales Come Fishermen’s Tales with Trygvie Jensen \nLGHS and Egg Harbor Historical Society\, in partnership with the Heritage Alliance of Door County History Days\, are hosting a unique story-telling program at the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor.  \nTrygvie Jensen is a Washington Island native\, author\, poet\, photographer\, reenactor and 18th-century tailor. Trygvie will read from his second book Through Waves and Gales Come Fishermen’s Tales sharing some of his favorite stories as told to him by the local commercial fishermen and fisherwomen. “… It is their story of a life on the lake that was only sometimes shared amongst their peers…” \nLGHS’s 25th Anniversary Season features a retrospective of the Liberty Grove Historical Society\, historical topics\, local family history\, and a significant site. SUMMARY:Museum Buildings Opening Day: History Loves Company Featuring GEO-DC
DESCRIPTION:Opening Day: History Loves Company \nJoin us on Saturday\, June 21\, from 10 AM to 4 PM\, for the opening day of Liberty Grove Historical Society’s 25th Anniversary celebration season. Each of our carefully preserved thirteen historic buildings will be open\, and guides will be present at the Log House Museum to help you on your tour. In honor of this milestone year\, portions of the 1873 Century Farmhouse will also be open to visitors this season. The Liberty Grove Historical Society and Museum Grounds are located on top of the hill next to the Grandview Town Park\, just south of Ellison Bay. \nOur neighbor\, the Greater Escarpment Organization of Door County (GEO-DC)\, will host a presentation titled Indigenous Peoples:  A Discussion on Gifts With Larry Madden in the Barn Museum. This presentation will explore the historical significance of mahnomen (wild rice) and tobacco to the Indigenous peoples of the Great Lakes Basin. *The time has yet to be determined.  \nThe Greater Escarpment Organization of Door County (GEO-DC) is a local nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about the Niagara Escarpment. This unique geological formation stretches over 1\,000 miles from New York State into Ontario\, Canada\, crossing the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and extending through Door County. Formed over millions of years\, it consists of layers of limestone\, shale\, and dolomite that have eroded to create the stunning cliffs and bluffs we see today.
