DESCRIPTION:Monday\, June 17\, 7 pm\,  Henriksen Family Continues Liberty Grove Commercial Fishing Traditions presented by Charlie Henriksen. \nLGHS and founder Charlie Henriksen invite you to listen to his stories. Active in Wisconsin fish politics\, Charlie’s story begins in the winter of 1974 fishing on the ice with Clayton Johnson and Craig Woerfel. After fishing part-time with Neil and Frank Teskie\, Charlie Voight\, Paul Goodman and Jack Schmirler and learning trap nets from Jeff and Mark Weborg and Dick Bergwin\, Charlie established Henriksen Fisheries in 1987. The next generation\, Will and Kristie Moss-Henriksen\, joined the team and celebrated the opening of their new store at Old Stage & Hwy 42 last year. \nAll LGHS programs follow a short membership meeting in the white barn. Merchandise benefiting LGHS will be available. All programs are free and open to the public with plenty of on-site parking and seating. \nAll events are subject to change. Wills Store– It’s a Small Town! True Romances & Adventures will be presented by Mel and Ingrid Nelson Lawrenz on July 15 and  Mertha Fulkerson: The Arc and Legacy of an Exemplary Life will be presented by Grandniece Jennifer Taylor on August 19. \nThe 24th Annual “Lake to Table” Fish Boil Fundraiser is on-site in the barn on Thursday\, June 20\, from 4 – 8 pm. \nMuseum 2024 Season Opening Day is Saturday\, June 22 with extended hours 10 – 4 pm. Members of the Forest County Potawatomi Community from Northern Wisconsin will help us learn about the Traditions and Cultures that helped these first people survive for hundreds of generations\, endure forced migration from their homes in the 1830s and renew their communities. \nAntique Tractor & Arts Festival is a 2-day weekend event\, July 27 – 28\, 10 – 4 pm. \nVolunteer Picnic is Monday\, August 5\, at 6 pm. \nVintage Market Days are Saturday\, August 10th and September 14\, 10 – 3 pm. \nGustave’s 1887 Lodge on-site tour is presented by Annie Miller\, on September 16\, 4 pm. \nFall Color “Photo Op” Day is Saturday\, October 12\, 10 – 3 pm and the last day the museum buildings will be open for the 2024 season. \nFall Potluck Meeting is Monday\, Oct. 21\, 6 pm located at the Town of Liberty Grove Hall. DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, June 20: 23rd Annual “Lake to Table” Fish Boil Fundraiser\, 4 – 8 pm. \nPlease RSVP using the QR code to secure your spot for a 4\, 5\, 6\, or 7 pm seating\, along with your menu selection. Ordering online is safe\, and easy and will greatly help LGHS plan for this onsite event in the barn. Each time slot is limited to 40 persons. \nThis all-inclusive Whitefish fish boil dinner is still priced at $25 per adult. Additional choices include a Broasted Chicken dinner\, junior dinner (fish and chicken) for $15 and a boxed ham sandwich (with banana\, chocolate chip cookie\, and juice box) for $10. All dinners include baby red potatoes\, onions\, coleslaw\, rye bread\, water\, lemonade\, coffee and cherry pie dessert. SUMMARY:2024 Season Museum Opening Day
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 22\, 10 – 4 pm: LGHS Opening Day: Celebration of the Potawatomi of Northern Door Peninsula. Since time immemorial people have lived on the Door Peninsula. The last documented Potawatomi village in Liberty Grove migrated west from Rowleys Bay across the Waters of the Green Bay to Cedar River in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan about 1878. What was the essence of their language\, culture and spirituality? What lessons should we learn from this era? \nSpecial Presentation: 1 PM Forest County Potawatomi Nation Historical & Cultural  Preservation Officer Sam Alloway will help us learn about the Traditions and Cultures that helped these first people survive for hundreds of generations\, endure forced migration from their homes in the 1830s and renew their communities. \nNew Fishing Net Drying Rack Exhibit in the white barn. The European immigrants and migrants from the East followed a different path. \nTwelve historic Liberty Grove buildings\, since 1873 will be open from 10 am – 4 pm.
